![]() ![]() ![]() Between this and Sonnstein, I’m really impressed with the scenery that the designers and artists of Bus Simulator 18 put together for this expansion. Driving down that road in Kerststadt reminded me of the Miraflores strip in Lima, which is quite similar. Just like Kerststadt, Lima is a modern city that also happens to have a coast on the cliffs. It reminded me of another place I’ve visited: Lima, Peru. ![]() The real-world parallel I mentioned earlier really clicked when I drove this for the first time. I wish there were more vistas like this in the game after all, the map is called Seaside Valley. The view is beautiful, and the houses riding alongside it really make it “picture perfect”. It has a single road that straddles high above the coastline on a cliff. Despite my love of Sonnstein, my favorite road in the entire game is in Kerststadt. However, the layout of the bus stops are pretty much in one big circle, so prepare yourself for a lot of cornering. It’s not really in the mountains like Sonnstein is, so driving through is a little easier. That said, due to the small size of the town, it’s still not nearly as congested as areas on the original map. The traffic here is worse than Sonnstein. The architecture is far more modern and minimalist. Unlike Sonnstein, Kerststadt is very modern and has lots of businesses and schools. Calming coastĪnother real-world parallel I found was with the aforementioned new town of Kerststadt. This seaside stretch of Kerststadt is easily the prettiest spot in the game now. It was like going through a virtual rendition of Cuenca. So, driving through Sonnstein was almost surreal for me. On top of that, Cuenca is also a relatively quiet place, and you don’t have to drive far to get to the countryside, which is just like Sonnstein. Despite Cuenca being Spanish, the look of its buildings is very similar to Sonnstein, most likely due to both of them having roots in European inspiration. Like Sonnstein, Cuenca consists primarily of historical architecture. That’s a real-world mountain city that I lived in from 2016 to 2018, and it’s still my favorite spot on the planet. I think what really sold me on Sonnstein was how it reminds me very much of Cuenca, Ecuador. I couldn’t stop myself from snapping photos. Bus Simulator 18 can be a little stressful much of the time, but driving through here was far more relaxing than I expected. The architecture is clearly quite a few decades old, perhaps even more so. The reward, though, is cruising through the streets of the sleepy little town. Trying to successfully swivel the longer buses around these bends can prove especially harrowing. The serpentine turns also provide their own challenge. You can hear the engine of the bus straining as it tries to make its way up the slope. Despite having some defects, it still offers a very entertaining experience.Sonnstein is every kind of tranquil and beautiful, providing a very different driving experience from the other towns. This way, for instance, Alaska presents a large frozen tundra with little traffic, while Los Angeles is a much more urban setting, and vehicles are everywhere.Īs for game modes, Bus Simulator 2015 features a race mode in which you can play a single player campaign and a free mode, in which you can choose a bus and a city and just start driving around.īus Simulator 2015 is driving simulator that has good graphics and a great amount of content. ![]() ![]() You’re only talking between half a second, but it’s there. It has to be said that there’s a clear and readily apparent delay when you close a fader quickly to cut off the sound. I say somewhat, because even though there’s a tremendous amount of play in them (think Numark M series) they have a decent amount of resistance to the channel faders and the crossfader’s light enough to push back and forth easily. If the previous two areas have greatly impressed, the Ergo’s somewhat let down by its fader section. ![]() In terms of browsing and track selection, the Ergo takes after the MEP and the DDJ controllers, and that’s certainly a good thing. That’s possibly because it doesn’t feel as cramped as the S4, for example. This is a neat and useful touch that could so easily have been overlooked, but its inclusion greatly improves the Ergo and enhances its position as a credible controller.Įven though NI’s Kontrol S series features browse and load controls, for some reason I rarely use them, preferring to use the mouse, but I don’t feel that way about the Ergo and always use its browsing controls. Press it and the currently highlighted track is loaded in Traktor’s Preview Player and played automatically. You can also preview tracks using a button located just underneath the rotary controller. In Traktor, for example, pressing the Load button loads the currently highlighted track in to whichever deck is currently selected. Tracks are loaded into decks using two Load buttons, with a Load button being located at either side of the rotary control. You can also use it to expand the browser screen itself. You use a rotary control to either cycle through and expand folders (if you’re also pressing a Shift button) or cycle through a playlist. Pioneer’s experience with its other DDJ controllers (and the MEP-7000) is evident here, and that’s no bad thing because selecting and loading tracks is fantastically simple and efficient. I’m really impressed by the relative wealth of I/O options on the Ergo because it matches those of the more expensive DDJ-T1, making it a credible and serious controller for the modern DJing hobbyist. Thanks to Pioneer’s foresight, that’s a scenario they won’t have to experience this holiday season. Just imagine the tears on Christmas morning if your loved one unwraps their Ergo to find they can’t use it properly because they don’t have a 6.3mm adaptor. Everyone has a pair of iPod style earphones, but not everyone has a pair of HD25s. The inclusion of both 3.5mm and 6.3mm jacks is phenomenally important considering the Ergo’s target market. Other than that, the Ergo features a type B USB connector for data I/O and power, a Kensington lock and both 3.5mm and 6.3mm headphone jacks on the front panel. MIC’s attach to the back of the device using a 6.3mm jack, which also features an input volume control. Next to the line input is its volume control and a switch that selects either the microphone or line input. You can use the input to listen to something even if you aren’t running Traktor or VDJ by configuring it as your OS’s default audio interface, which is handy if you’ve only got one computer and the Ergo’s permanently attached to it. You’ll also find a pair of line-level RCA inputs to which you can connect MP3 players, a CDJ, or whatever else you fancy. On the back you’ll find a single pair of RCA connectors and a single pair of balanced 6.3mm jacks, both of which push audio out to your audience. Given that it’s a USB-powered ‘lifestyle’ controller, you’d be forgiven for thinking the Ergo’s only concessions to I/O would be a 3.5mm output for the headphones and a 3.5mm output for some speakers, but that isn’t the case. ![]() Of course, features mean nothing if they’re badly implemented, and nothing exposes a controller’s weakness like an in-depth Skratchworx review. Pioneer are heavily marketing it at newcomers and hobbyists, and at first glance it looks as if it’s the perfect first controller. It also has features that threaten the more expensive DDJs and is compatible with VDJ, Traktor and the highly anticipated Serato Intro. The second thing that strikes you is the intense lightshow that blinds you when you plug it in to your PC, but the Ergo is much more than an expensive bauble.įor starters, it’s a four-channel controller despite only having two channel strips. The first thing that strikes you is the lack of a power supply, but that’s because it’s entirely powered by USB. But in the last year, they’ve released two decent controllers, and the Ergo benefits from that experience. Pioneer was a relative newcomer to the controller market, having made an extremely high profile name for itself making hyper desirable and hyper expensive hardware. ![]() ![]() Fairburne gives chase and succeeds in shooting out the plane's engines before it can take off, destroying the plane and killing Böhm just as the Allied Lancaster bombers arrive to destroy the base. Böhm executes Angel and quickly departs to his plane, intending to take off and personally carry out the attack on Eisenhower's ship. As he attempts to call in a bombing raid on the facility, Dorfmann appears with a captured Angel, revealing himself to be Böhm. Fairburne infiltrates the base, disabling each of the missiles. Gathered intelligence allows the SOE to discover Böhm is aware of Operation Avalanche and has the constructed missiles sent to his fortress at Allagra, intending to both inflict enough damage on the fleet to prevent the invasion of Italy from being a success and attempting to kill General Dwight Eisenhower. Fairburne departs to Giovi Fiorini and eliminates Rothbauer, but the ensuing battle results in the Partisans being massacred. Kessler then tells Fairburne that he is dying of liver cancer due to his heavy drinking and is of no use to the Nazis or the Allies as a result, and that the information given to Angel was a lie in order to lure the Partisans into a trap. On interrogation, Kessler tells Angel her father is still alive, prompting the Partisans to depart to assault the town of Giovi Fiorini and find Böhm's confidant Major Klaus Rothbauer. However when an SOE informant, Major Hans Dorfmann, reveals that Kessler is at the Magazzeno Facility where the missiles are assembled, Fairburne infiltrates the base to kidnap Kessler and steal his research notes. Distrustful of the Mafia's intentions, the Partisans are reluctant to maintain the alliance. ![]() Upon learning the Sicilian Mafia were helping disrupt operations at the dockyard to slow down the shipment of the weapon parts, Fairburne meets with kingpin Salvatore Dinelli who agrees to provide additional assistance after eliminating Piero Capo, leader of the local Black Brigade. After blowing up the viaduct and destroying the gun, Fairburne is sent to investigate a dockyard that the Nazis are using to ship the weapon part out of and call in a bombing raid to destroy the facility. Distrustful of the OSS who allowed her father to be kidnapped by the Nazis, Angel enlists Fairburne to destroy a railway gun at Regelino Viaduct in order to prove himself and convince the group to join forces. After eliminating Schmidt, Fairburne is sent to the village of Bitanti by OSS agent Jack Weaver to find Sofia "Angel" Di Rocco, leader of the local Partisan resistance group. SOE sniper Karl Fairburne ( Tom Clarke-Hill) is sent to the island after the sinking and tasked with assassinating General Tobias Schmidt along with several other officers who oversaw the attack, filming it to use as propaganda. The ship is quickly sunk by the new weapon – a radio guided anti-ship missile under the development of scientist Andreas Kessler and Heinz Böhm, a high ranking Nazi general that the Allies have little information about. Upon learning about rumours of a new Nazi weapon, the Royal Navy sends a freighter, the Orchidea, to the island of San Celini to investigate. Sniper Elite 4 is set in Italy in 1943, in the immediate aftermath of the events in Sniper Elite III. ![]() Cooperative missions and competitive multiplayer modes are reintroduced. The game's new movement system allows Fairburne to climb and grab ledges. Maps in the game are significantly larger than Sniper Elite III, granting players more freedom and open-ended gameplay. The game also features night missions, in which the player can remove light sources to hide their presence. The player can place traps and use corpses as booby traps. Killing the officer as early as possible will lead his army to retreat, while killing him by the end of a mission will significantly increase the level's difficulty. The player is equipped with a pair of binoculars, which shows the player where the enemies are and what weapons they are carrying, as well as the ability to tag opponents and objects. When an enemy is killed, other enemies will begin actively looking for them. The game's artificial intelligence is improved, with enemies being able to react to the player's action more responsively. The system has also been expanded to include shrapnel kills, melee kills and stealth kills. When the player kills an enemy using a sniper rifle from a long distance, the X-Ray kill cam system will activate, in which the game's camera follows the bullet from the sniper rifle to the target, and shows body parts, bones or internal body organs being broken or ruptured by the bullet.
